Carbs that Could – Shopping list #Part 1

by Linda Eaves on August 18, 2010

Hold onto your hats dears.

I’m going shopping this weekend. A cleanse and digestive reboot is needed. There’s been a lot of eating out and – well…

Bored Now.

My but those fingers do look tasty!

That’s my girl – Evil Willow from Buffy the Vampire Slayer – a classic TV series. *Sighs*

When she said “Bored Now.” ….people ran and hid because things got explodey.  Me, I love a fiesty red head. But this is real life. *Again with the Sighing*

So, Instead I want to be a happy shopper – like this gal at Trader Joe’s! Can’t you see the happiness radiating off of her being as she carefully scans the label? (Please don’t spoil my dream, OK?)

This girl is my Hero

My fella Chris and I agree that we enjoy meat. That’s the easy part. But what about the rest?

According to the What are ‘good’ carbs? website…

Note: Don’t like good/bad – so am replacing it with “could” carbs. Because this is what I could choose. Puts it back in my court and no food guilt. I want to choose to eat this way and see how my bod likes it. So, the site sez:

The simple answer to this question is this: could carbs are unprocessed carbohydrates in their ‘natural’ state – or very close to their natural state. In other words they have been minimally altered by man or machine (or not altered at all). Most diet experts agree that green vegetables are the ‘ultimate’ could carbs. In fact, pretty much all ‘leafy’ vegetables and fruits fit into this category. Beans and legumes are also, generally, included on the ‘could carbs’ list, as are nuts and seeds.

* whole vegetables
* whole fruits
* beans
* legumes
* nuts
* seeds
* whole cereal grains [This one we don't crave a lot]

OK then. There’s that part taken care of. Time to figure out what kind of meals we want to eat for a couple weeks. We shall see.

P.S. Kudos to Eggface for pointing me to this site. Go see her for luscious food ideas. And, now – I’m going to crash. It’s been a long and *mumble* day.
