Had lunch today with my girlfriend Teresa and was telling her about my plans for the rest of the day. Monday is one of my exercise days so it’s time to shimmy and shake with Zumba. See, my current geekness level about this is well – profound. Yep. I am into it with a capital I. It has unleashed released some crazy inner-belly-dancer-copa-cabana-chorus-line girl I didn’t know was in there. And I like her. In fact, during lunch a song we do in class came on the loudspeaker and honestly, I almost got up to do the freakin’ steps to the routine. However I paused and did refrain in consideration of not wanting to mortify my lunch companion. I booth danced instead. Have you ever been that into something?
I love it.
So out of polite courtesy not to mention complete relief – she asked: “What is Zumba?”

About Zumba Classes
Zumba Classes combine high energy and motivating music
with unique moves and combinations that allow the Zumba
participants to dance away their worries. It is based on the
principle that a workout should be “FUN AND EASY TO DO” in
order for Zumba participants to stick to the Zumba fitness
program to achieve long-term health benefits. Zumba
Classes are not only great for the body, but is also great for
the mind. It is a “feel-happy” workout.
ZUMBA is a fusion of Latin and International music –
dance themes creating a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness
system! The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training
with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and
sculpt the body. Zumba utilizes the principals of fitness
interval training and resistance training to maximize caloric
output, fat burning and total body toning. It is a mixture of
body sculpting movements with easy to follow dance steps.
Zumba is a Latin-music based cardio workout on steroids!
It’s more than exercise; it’s about creating a place, where
for one hour a day, we can go to sweat, dance, have fun and
be silly. [Note: The silly is my favorite part - Linda]
It’s about forming a common bond, a sisterhood or
brotherhood of sorts, where we don’t compete and we don’t
judge. For that one hour we’re all equal, we’re all beautiful and we’re all strong.
Zumba changes lives. Join us and you’ll never look back..
Bonus – blast from the past. Video taken pre surgery. I have about a 2 second cameo at the very end. After class I was so out of breath I could barely speak. Zumba-ing is a lot easier now, for sure.
